Sundergarh: The bodies of two girls, one reportedly from Odisha were found hanging from a tree near Biruamu in Simdega district of neighboring Jharkhand today.

One of the deceased has been identified as a native of Biramitrapur area in Odisha's Sundergarh district while the other is a local resident. Sources said, the two girls were friends and used to travel together to participate in football tournaments.

After getting information from the local residents, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies before sending them for post mortem. The cops along with a team of forensic experts have launched probe to examine the exact cause behind the death of the duo.

Simdega Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shree Rajkishore clarified that the local girl had informed her parents that she was going to her school however, she did not reach there and the other girl from Odisha too was spotted at the nearby Biru Chowk.

"We are not able to say whether it is a suicide or murder, so we will be looking into all the aspects and based on the post mortem report, we will take action," said Rajkishore.

On the other hand, the family members of both the girls have denied the speculation of suicide.
