Mayurbhanj: Two persons were left with critical injuries after their onion-laden truck they were travelling in, skidded off road and fell into a 50-feet deep gorge here today.

According to sources, a truck carrying onions from Nasik to Kolkata lost control and slipped off rolling 50-feet down the National Highway 49 at Duarasuni ghati under Bangiriposi police limits of the district early morning today.

The driver and the helper of the vehicle were seriously injured in the accident

Soon after the incident, police, fire fighting team along with the locals launched a rescue operation and recovered the two persons. They were immediately rushed to the district headquarters hospital.

Preliminary findings suggested that the two injured persons were residents of Midnapore in West Bengal.
