Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: In the past few days, armed miscreants have created havoc in different places of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Amid rising crime in twin city, Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police today informed that cops will carry loaded firearms in PCR vans to combat armed miscreants.

Police Commissioner, Satyajit Mohanty stated, "Well-trained cops in PCR vans will carry pistol and a magazine. Such a step has been taken to equip policemen so they can be able to better tackle the armed miscreants."

As many as 45 PCR vans are running across the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar and nearly 70 percent of the vans will have well-trained cops with guns. The new rules will be implemented within a week.

The Commissionerate Police has also revised the 'blocking' timings to morning 4:00 AM- 7:00 AM instead of late night.

Kharavela Nagar Police Station SPO, Damodar Swain said, "It is a big threat for police as the highway robbers and snatchers carry pistols as well as other weapons. The cops will now feel safe."
