Cuttack: She might look young, but her strokes on the canvas will never give you the feel that she is an amateur. Meet 13-year-old Sana Karmakar of Cuttack who is now winning accolades for her unique painting skills.

From Mahatma Gandhi, Subash Chandra Bose to Bollywood legends like Amitabh and Kajol, each of her sketches and paintings will leave one awestruck.

A Class VIII student of Government Girl's High School in Kazi Bazaar of Cuttack, Sana has won several awards in various inter-state and state- level drawing competitions.

Despite her unique talent, Sana's mother said that the family is facing problems in encouraging her. However, if little assistance is provided by the State government, Sana can bring laurels for the State as an acclaimed painter.

"Sana has been doing sketches and paintings since her childhood but we are unable to provide her necessary support due to our poor financial condition. Her father works in a shop and even we do not have time and vehicle to take her to participate in various painting competitions," said Sana's mother, Purabi Karmakar.

"Everyone appreciates me. After seeing my paintings, my uncle enrolled me in an art class," said Sana.

Sana is not only a good painter, but also a meritorious student. She was recently felicitated by her school for winning first prize in a drawing competition organised during the state-level Sishu Mahotsav 'Surabhi'.

"Sana has won first prize for our school in different drawing competitions and we are proud of her. I pray to Lord Jagannath to bless her with a bright career ahead," said headmaster, Nirupama Mallick.
