Phulbani: BJP National General Secretary and party in charge of Odisha, D Purandeswari on Thursday slammed the BJD government alleging that it has deprived the tribal population in the State from the benefits of MSP and other central schemes.

Addressing a press conference in Kandhamal, the BJP leader said, “The tribals are deprived of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) provided by the Central government due to negligence by the State government.”

Purandeswari also accused the State government of appropriating all central schemes in its own name. She said, “The Centre has been providing 60% assistance for the medical college in Kandhamal. But Odisha government is trying to take away all the credit whereas it has only provided the land for the project.”

“The State government has done nothing for the development of the poor in the state. They have only changed the name of various centrally - sponsored schemes and showcased them as their own. By diverting the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) to Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana (BPGY), the State government is denying the credit that is due to the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre,” Purandeswari said.

The former union minister further said that people of the State have now lost their faith on the BJD government and in future, they will vote for BJP.

Earlier on Wednesday, Purandeswari lashed out at Odisha government over the brutal murder of two party leaders at Mahanga in Cuttack district.

“Our party workers were brutally murdered for exposing corruption in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The incident has reflected the laxity in maintaining the law and order situation in the State. It has also exposed that the Odisha government is mired in corruption,” she had said.
