Rayagada: Tribal leader Jitu Jakasika targeted the ruling-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today and accused the party of using him by appointing him the member of the Special Development Council (SDC) in Rayagada.

"BJD has used me to gain political mileage ahead of the general elections," Jitu said.

Jitu's statement came after he stepped down as member of the SDC.

Responding to Jitu's statement, BJD spokesperson Rabi Narayan Nanda said, "Only he can tell why he was protesting then and now he has completely changed his stance."

Earlier on May 1, the Niyamgiri Suraksha Manch (NSM), a Dongria Kondh outfit of Rayagada had cautioned Jitu from playing politics in the name of providing justice to tribals.
