Bolangir: A trial run on the newly-laid railway track between Bolangir and Bhainsapalli on Khurda-Bolangir route was conducted today.

Official sources said, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) along with Sambalpur DRM and some other senior officials inspected the 19-km line. After a safety inspection of the Railway tracks, CRS will submit a report and subsequently the line will be made operational.

Out of 289 km Khurda-Balangir new railway line, the Ministry of Railways has already commissioned 66-km Khurda Road-Nayagarh stretch.

"The inspection will be completed today. If everything goes well, we will submit the report at the earliest. The DRM will finally decide when to make the track operational," KA Manoharan, CRS, Southern Circle, East Coast Railway said.

As per reports, earlier this year, the state cabinet had approved alienation of government land measuring 881.475 acres for the construction of Daspalla-Bolangir segment of Khurda-Bolangir rail line.
While the project is expected to complete by 2020, the Ministry of Railways has already commissioned 66-km Khurda Road-Nayagarh stretch of the 289-km Khurda Road-Balangir rail project.
