Cuttack: The Chauliaganj Police in Cuttack on Thursday arrested a trader in connection with the seizure of 1 quintal synthetic paneer in the silver city yesterday.

According to police sources, the trader has been arrested under sections 272, 273, 420, 34 of the IPC for the illegal sale.

Continuing the crackdown on adulterated food processing units in Cuttack, a team of police along with officials of the city municipal corporation detected 1 quintal synthetic paneer mixed with harmful substances from a passenger bus transporting the adulterated substance from Kolkata. The surprise check was conducted at OMP Chhak under Chauliaganj police limits.

Police said synthetic paneer adulterated with Urea, detergent powder, Palmolive oil, maida, wastage milk, sulphuric acid, glycerine powders are regularly sold at Rs 70 in Cuttack markets by habitual transporter Sukadeb Sahu of Khan Nagar area. He has been arrested and the case is now under investigation," informed Cuttack DCP.

"Our crackdown drive against the adulteration of food materials continue! The joint squad of CMC's health and food safety unit in association with the team allocated by DCP Cuttack caught one concerned person responsible for selling adulterated Paneer," stated the Cuttack Municipal Corporation.
