Bhubaneswar: India’s fastest woman & Olympian, Dutee Chand from Odisha has crossed another milestone. The sprint-queen, who has not only brought laurels on track but also has earned recognition off it, has now made it to the TIME 100 Next list of most influential people in the world.

TIME 100 Next is an extension of the TIME 100 list of the most influential people in the world and it covers 100 emerging personalities who have been and expected to be influential in the field of business, entertainment, sports, politics, health, science and activism.

As per official sources, the full list will be published on November 25, 2019 issue of the TIME magazine.

Olympian Dutee Chand, India’s first gay athlete, had recently won the Vogue sportsperson of the year award.

 

Expressing gratitude to her supporters, Dutee said, "I am delighted to receive this recognition from the TIME. I believe in gender equality and I will continue to fight for the rights of young girls and women in sports as well as in the larger society."

"Congratulations to Dutee Chand, the fastest woman of India, on being shortlisted in the esteemed Time 100 Next 2019 list. May she always sprint her way to glory both on and off the track," tweeted Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also congratulated sprinter Dutee Chand for being named in the TIME 100 Next list of most influential persons in the world and extended her best wishes.
