Puri: After several incidents of TikTok videos in restricted areas such as hospitals, its mania has now reached the temple of Lord Jaganath in Puri.

According to sources, a video shot on popular video sharing app TikTok inside the premises of 12th century shrine (Bhoga Mandap) has gone viral on social media raising eyebrows on security and safety of the temple.

Even though the incident has come to light, no complaint has been registered in this regard so far. Other details are awaited.

"I urge the concerned authority to investigate the case and ensure that no such incident takes place in the future," said senior servitor Binayak Dasmohapatra.

Speaking on the incident, Puri Superintendent of Police Umashankar Das said, "We are taking this matter seriously and an investigation is underway to find who did this."

According to guidelines, strict restriction is imposed on entry of mobiles or any other forms of electronic gadgets into the temple. However, there are numerous instances in the past when the interior photographs and videos of shot inside the shrine had gone viral on social media.

Earlier this month, a picture of Ollywood actress Divya clicked inside the temple made rounds on social media. In the viral photograph with a caption ‘Mahaprasad bhojan divya di with family and my friends’, the actress was seen having the holy food along with her family and friends at Ananda Bazaar.
