Bhubaneswar: The New Year has brought more joy for wildlife lovers in the State with white tigress Sneha giving birth to two cubs at Nandankanan Zoological Park on Wednesday night.

Zoo authorities said tigress Sneha gave birth to the first cub at around 3.38 AM and later delivered another baby at 5.44 AM under CCTV surveillance. The babies and the mother are stated to be in good health and being monitored through cameras, they added.

The two tiger cubs were delivered by Sneha after mating with tiger SAIF some 105 days ago. SAIF was brought from Hyderabad zoo under animal exchange Programme for changing the bloodline, said the zoo authorities.

With the birth of two cubs, the tiger population in the zoo has now risen to 27 which include 13 normal colour, eight white and four melanistic tigers.
