Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday issued yellow warning to eleven districts of Odisha alerting them of possible thunderstorm and lightning coupled with light to moderate rain in the next 24 hours.

The districts listed under the yellow warning zone included Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Briefing about the weather forecast, Bhubaneswar Met centre Chief, HR Biswas said, "The cyclonic circulation over Central India near Vidarbha is still persisting including an upper tropospheric westerly which is very likely to aid rainfall in some districts of Odisha in the next two days."

The thunderstorm and lightning activities will continue in some western Odisha districts and in one or two coastal districts, he added.

Thunderstorm and lightning warning was also issued for February 18. And some more districts, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Nuapada and Sonepur were added to the above list of eleven districts which are likely to witness rain and thunderstorm on the day (February 18).

Similarly, some districts of north-western Odisha will see rainfall on February 19 as well.

As per Biswas, mostly dry weather will prevail in Odisha from February 20 onwards.

Temperature will remain more or less same throughout the State without major changes.

As far as the Capital city of Bhubaneswar is concerned, the night sky will remain cloudy with a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning on February 18, informed Biswas.
