Sonepur: Former principal of Sonepur College along with two others have been suspended on charges of financial irregularities. According to sources, former principal (now transferred) Priyalata Jena, Chemistry Department demonstrator Narayan Mishra and accountant Pramod Bagh have been suspended by the management council of the college. The decision regarding suspension was communicated by Principal Kedarnath Mishra today.

"On February 5, the three were served suspension notices. FIR will be lodged against two of the suspended employees - Priyalata Jena and Narayan Mishra followed by disciplinary action against them," said Kedarnath Mishra.

Allegations of financial irregularities in infrastructure development of the college to the tune of Rs 76 lakh surfaced in the college in August 2017. The allegations were levelled by the students union which had then organised protests and demanded dismissal of the principal.

The management council of the college had reportedly held discussions on the report submitted by the Chartered Accountant and decided to suspend the three staff, sources added.
