Three students meet watery grave in Kushabhadra River

Puri: Three students were killed after drowning in Kushabhadra River in Nimapada Tehsil of Puri district on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Jyotiranjan Sahoo, a +3 student at Nimapada Autonomous College and Kamal Lochan Jena, a class 10th student of Nimapada DAV School. The details of the third person are yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, all three students were taking bath near Balighat area in the river when they went missing. Later local villagers and fire fighters launched a search and rescue operation and fished out the bodies of the deceased.

It is suspected that the students who drowned might have been pulled into the strong current of the river forming due to large scale excavation of sand from the area.
