Three minors including 2 girls drown in separate incidents

Kalahandi/Mayurbhanj: In a string of unfortunate incidents, three minors including 2 girls meet their watery graves in separate incidents across Odisha today.

Two minor girls drowned while bathing in a pond in Kesinga village of Kalahandi district. The deceased have been identified as Rosy Sahoo (15) and her cousin sister Namita Sahoo (13).

"The duo had gone to a nearby pond to take bath and drowned after entering into deep waters. We have registered a case of unnatural death," said Kesinga Police Station IIC, Basudev Chhatria.

"Even though the Fire Station is just a few kilometers away, fire personnel arrived an hour late. Despite informing the SDPO in this regard, no hearse has been sent to carry the bodies," said a relative of the deceased, Bharat Sahu.

In another incident, a minor boy drowned while bathing in a pond at Mundathakura village under Rairangpur police limits of Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased has been identified as Phulamani Kisku (8).
