Keonjhar: Three labourers engaged in soil mining lost their lives in a landslide at Tulasichaura village of Keonjhar district today. As per reports, a portion of the earth caved in when the labourers were loading soil in a tractor as a result of which 3 labourers were buried alive and another woman suffered critical injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Rekha Dehury, Nir Juang and Kesab Juang, who were residents of Talapada village. The injured woman Pata Mantri has been admitted to hospital.

"Four of us were engaged in the soil mining work. We were trapped after a landslide. Rest of them have died and I am the only survivor. I have suffered injuries on my back and feet," Mantri said.

After getting information on the incident, a team of cops and Fire services personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation during which only one person could be rescued.

Inspector-in-charge of Keonjhar Town Police Station, Somnath Jena, said, "After getting information about the mishap we reached the spot along with the Fire Services personnel and launched a rescue operation. Three bodies were recovered and one injured person has been admitted to hospital. An investigation is currently underway."
