Three killed in road mishap

Khurda: In a tragic road accident, three persons, including a couple were killed when a car in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a speeding truck near Naval Chhak at Balugaon in Khurda the district on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Uma Maheswar Pal, his wife Gitanjali Pal and their driver Santosh Das.

While the couple hail from Bhubaneswar and the driver is a resident of Sijua on the city outskirts.

Reports said the couple was on the way to Berhampur this morning when the mishap took place.

The driver of the truck has fled the spot soon after the incident, sources added.

Meanwhile, the Naval police station has begun investigation into the incident.
