Three killed, 3 injured in separate lightning mishaps in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: At least three persons were killed and three others injured in separate lightning strike incidents under the impact of thunderstorms and Nor'wester rain in different places in Odisha on Saturday.

As per reports, a couple was killed after lightning struck them while they were fast asleep inside their house at Bisipali under Padampur police limits in Bargarh district yesterday night. The deceased have been identified as Kailash Bariha and his wife Kishori Bariha.

After getting information, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

In another incident, one person died while his three brothers received critical injuries in lightning strike at Nairi village in Balugaon area of Khurda district on Saturday night.

The incident occurred when the four had gone for fishing in Chilika Lake, reports added.

The condition of one among the three injured is stable while the other two others have been admitted to Balugaon Hospital and Nairi Hospital in a critical condition.
