Paradip: Three sailors from Bangladesh who fell into the sea at the anchorage point of Paradip Port Trust (PPT) here were rescued by the marine team.

The sailors were identified as the crew members of Malta-flagged vessel Ocean Century.

According to sources, the sailors were carrying out maintenance of their ship when they fell into the sea along with their rescue boat. On being informed, the Marine Rescue Team launched an operation and rescued the sailors from the drowning.

The three rescued sailors are the 2nd Engineer, 3rd Engineer and an Electrical Engineer of Ocean Century. They were admitted to the PPT Hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.

According to sources, the Malta-flagged vessel had come to Paradip for an outgoing iron-ore cargo. The rescue boat was being brought from the deep sea to the PPT Harbour.

Meanwhile, the timely step taken by the Port Marine Department was widely appreciated.
