This Is How A Girl Drowned While Clicking Selfie In Odisha: Watch Viral Video

Sundergarh: A video purportedly showing the circumstances leading to the drowning of a girl in Ib river went viral on social media.

The viral video showed how Nirupama Prajapati of Rajgangpur drowned in the river while clicking selfie on January 3, 2021. In the video, a man was seen approaching Prajapati while she was posing for the selfie.

The man, whose identity was not ascertained yet, approached the girl from the left side and fell into water after losing balance on the rocks. In the process, he pushed Prajapati into the river.

She went deep into the water after falling from the rocks and swept away by strong currents. Her body was recovered from underneath a rock in the river 300 metres away from the place of mishap after 22 hours of the incident.

Earlier on New Year's Day, a youth identified as Satya Parija of Kaliagaan area had drowned in Duduma waterfall near Semiliguda in Koraput district.

Satya fell into the waterfall and went missing while he was clicking a selfie. Though his friends launched a search operation, they could not trace him.

Later on Saturday, his body was fished out by the fire services personnel and ODRAF team from the water body.
