Tension at Balasore MCH over alleged medication error

Balasore: Tension erupted at Balasore Medical College and Hospital here today after family members of a patient, who died during treatment yesterday, vandalised the hospital premises alleging the authorities of administering wrong injection.

According to sources, one Madhusudan Pradhan of Dahapada village under Sahadevkhunta police limits was admitted to Balasore MCH after he complained of chest pain yesterday night.

After check up by the doctor, the patient was administered some medicines and an injection. However, instead of recovery the patient died later in the night.

Alleging the doctor of administering wrong injection, irate family members and other aquaintances of the patient vandalised the hospital premises.

Later they also lodged a complaint against the hospital authorities at the medical police station.

Following the incident, police forces have been deployed inside the hospital premises to avoid any kind of untoward incident.

However, neither the hospital authorities nor the police have commented anything in this regard.
