Bhubaneswar: Though mercury continued to rise across the State over the past few days providing some respite from the prevailing cold wave conditions, temperature suddenly plummeted below normal at several places of the State on Tuesday, once again throwing normal life out of gear.

Temperature dipped to 4.0 degree Celsius, the lowest in the State at Daringbadi on Tuesday. 12 districts have recorded temperature drop of 4 to 5 degree Celsius.

Duty Officer of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Laxmidhar Mahapatra informed that maximum dip in temperatures was witnessed in North-interior areas whereas regions of coastal and South-interior Odisha recorded minimal drop of 2 to 3 degree Celsius.

Regions of Grinbadi, Lainpada,  Saringirpi and  Kilabadi in Daringbadi of Kandhamal witnessed heavy frost due to drop in the temperature.

According to a Met department reports, the prevailing cold conditions will continue across the state for the next 48 hours.
