Tehsildar locked in office for working on holiday!

Kendrapara: In a bizarre incident, the Rajkanika Tehsildar here in the district was allegedly locked inside his office by locals for working on a holiday on Saturday.

As per the list of government holidays, Saturday was a holiday but still Rajkanika Tehsildar Pradyush Kumar Mohanty had come to office and was seen working along with other staff of the office, sources said.

Getting information, locals reached the Tehsil office and locked it from outside. Later, police rushed to the spot and rescued the staff after pacifying the mob.

“People here are dissatisfied and unhappy with the activities of Rajkanika Tehsildar and many misappropriation allegations have cropped in against him. No investigation has been undertaken till now. The Tehslidar along with four other staff was working inside the office and a few locals locked them from outside,” said Bidhan Das, a local.

Meanwhile, refuting the allegations, the Tehsildar said, “I have been appointed for Magistrate duties. And even in holidays, we work to finish off things that are incomplete. We were doing our duty. What can we do if a few uncivilized people lock us from outside?”
