Teachers In Odisha School Clash Over Eggs In MDM!

Nabarangpur: A scuffle broke out at the Miriguda Project High School in Umerkote block on Wednesday following an alleged dispute over distribution of eggs in mid-day meal (MDM), leaving two teachers injured.

The incident reportedly occurred after the headmaster had an argument with the assistant teacher of the same school. The quarrel soon turned ugly and in no time, a scuffle broke out between the teachers. Subsequently, two of them including a lady teacher sustained injuries.

Hours later, the educational institution turned into a war zone after the villagers got agitated with the behaviour of the teachers and barged into the school.JagatGanda, a local said, "If the headmaster himself behaves in an uncivilised manner, what would the students and other sub-ordinate teachers learn from him?"

Even the students said that they have suffered many times because of regular scuffles between the teachers in the past.

Speaking to OTV, the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Umerkote, Bikash Chandra Sarkar said, "This is very unfortunate. The teachers should have come to me first in case of any dispute. I am probing the incident now. I would be able to shed more light on it only after completion of the investigation."
