Teachers Engaged In Vehicular Traffic Management On Border In Odisha

Malkangiri: A day after Odisha government made 14-day mandatory quarantine for the Andhra and Telangana returnees to Odisha, the Malkangiri district, which shares border with the two states, has engaged teachers and lecturers from different schools and colleges to assist the administration in managing vehicular movement through the border check point (BCP).

Through a notification, Kalimela Block Development Officer (BDO)-cum Empowered Officer directed 14 academic professions including eight school teachers and six lecturers to assist the Tehsildar of Motu in the district for the purpose.

“In view of resurgence of SARS CoV-2 the following teachers and lecturers are hereby ordered to assist the Tahsildar, Motu for smooth management of vehicular movement to different Blocks and Districts from BCP,” the notification stated.

They will report to the Motu Tehsildar and work under him from May 5 to 11. They have been directed to report to the Tehsildar by Wednesday positively, the notification stated.

“The concerned Headmasters of the schools have been ordered to relieve them immediately. Any deviation in this matter will be strictly dealt with and the defaulters punished under the provisions of section 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act.,2005 the Epidemic Diseases Act,1897 and other relevant sections of IPC,” it added.

The Odisha government has made 14-day institutional quarantine mandatory for the people coming from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana after detection of a virulent variant of Covid-19 in the southern states.
