Koraput: Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati and Koraput Central Cooperative (KCC) Bank president Indira Nanda are at loggerheads over several issues plaguing the cooperative bank.

Bahinipati, who is also a director of KCC Bank, recently had raised the issue of KCC bank 'mis-management' in the State Assembly. The firebrand Congress legislator through a question had sought information regarding KCC bank's financial condition and expenses incurred on tours of the bank president.

Responding to this, KCC Bank president Indira Nanda, who is wife of senior BJD leader Rabi Narayan Nanda, said, “Since KCC bank has an independent board, and also as Bahinipati is a director, the MLA could have raised the matters in the board meeting itself. Taking it to the Assembly is inappropriate.”

Nanda further stated that as a director, Bahinipati could have sent a note of dissidence and all required information would have been provided to him. “As far as tour expenses are concerned, everything is approved through proper proceedings and resolutions. And a copy of so is always forwarded to him. If he (Bahinipati) is not getting any answers, he should step down from the director’s post,” she challenged.

Reacting on Nanda’s comments, Bahinipati said people have elected him as MLA and director of the K CC Bank.

“The Bank president has no moral rights to question me. As a MLA, I have every right to raise in Assembly issues of mismanagement of the bank, including corruption in computer procurement and expenses incurred on president’s tour,” said Bahinipati.
