Dhenkanal: Raising serious questions over the quality of healthcare services delivery in Odisha, a sanitation worker posted at the district headquarters hospital in Dhenkanal was allegedly found administering injection to a patient on Wednesday.

The matter came to light after a video of the incident went viral on social media platforms.

The video purportedly shows the sanitation worker administering injection to a woman patient admitted for treatment at the hospital.

The Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) accepted the matter and assured to take necessary action after conducting a probe.

The ADMO however clarified that even though the hospital is facing acute staff crunch, a sweeper should not administer injection.

“I have knowledge about the incident, but it is not yet clear whether the attendant is administering an injection or not. I will check the details of the incident. But even then an attendant can only assist the staff nurse on duty but cannot administer injections,” said ADMO Sankalp Bhol.
