Swabhiman Area In True Sense: People In Malkangiri Maoist Hotbed Get Much-Awaited Emergency Services

Malkangiri: The recent headway in the remote 'Swabhiman Anchal' concerning infrastructure, healthcare services, telecom and livelihood seems to have given a ray of hope to the people about a possible holistic and peaceful development of the area. The progress seen here over the last few days suggest so.

As per reports, the district administration has started specialist health services at Public Health Centre (PHC) Janbai, PHC Jodambo and SDH Chitrakonda to address the poor maternal and child health parameters of Swabhiman Anchal.

Malkangiri ADM and CDMO inaugurated the Maternal and Child health specialist services last Friday at PHC Janbai to improve the health parameters.

The services will be available every Friday at PHC Janbai, every Sunday at PHC Jodambo and on Tuesdays at SDH Chitrakonda, the district Collector said.

Odisha DGP Abhay informed that these health and wellness centres have been manned, with the posting of four doctors. He also stated about other developmental activities underway at a fast pace in the area.

DIG Police, South Western Range, Koraput also highlighted the focused approach of the State government, apart from appreciating the contributions of Odisha Police and BSF for creating a facilitative and secure environment in this area that is considered a Maoist hotbed in the State.

Telecom connectivity being a continuous demand of the people in Swabhiman Anchal was also fulfilled recently when people got access to mobile network connectivity. Trial run of the mobile network was also completed successfully in Pipalapadar, Hantalguda and Jantapai villages.

Ever since Gurupriya Bridge has opened, the Swabhiman Anchal has witnessed transformation with subsequent setting up of Jodambo police station and series of BSF COBs thus bringing normalcy in this area for delivery of various govt services including healthcare, said Malkangiri SP.

Further, the SP noted that creation of safe and secure environment is playing an important role in enabling construction of roads, setting up of mobile networks, provisioning of PDS, drinking water, housing, education, healthcare and other government services.
