Cuttack: The Director of Swami Vivekanand National Institute of Rehabilitation Training & Research (SVNIRTAR), Shakti Prasad Das was allegedly attacked by two bike-borne miscreants on Wednesday. Das, who has sustained injuries on his head, filed a complaint at the Olatpur Police Station following the incident.

As per the complaint, Das was attacked while returning home from the SVNIRTAR in his car. Two bike-borne miscreants came from behind and attacked him near Kantapada bazaar, the complaint mentioned. The rear windshield of his car has been completely damaged in the attack.

“I left the office at around 5:30 pm. After going for two kms, there was a loud noise near my vehicle at Kantapada. Before I could realise anything, there was another loud noise and something hit my head,” said Das.

While police have launched a probe into the incident, the motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) submitted a memorandum to DGP RP Sharma demanding immediate arrest of culprits behind the attack on the SVNIRTAR director.
