Khurda: Making a major headway into the firing incident inside a clinic in Khurda on December 15, police today claimed that a contract killer was hired to execute the crime.

Two miscreants had fired three rounds of bullets after entering the clinic injuring a paediatrician and a pharmacist. The pharmacist later succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar.

Briefing the media about the on-going probe into the case today, Khurda superintendent of police (SP) Ajay Pratap Swain said, “We got some concrete evidence that a supari killer was hired to execute the crime. Further investigation is underway to find out who had hired the killer and what was motive behind the crime.”

Speaking about the progress of the investigation, the SP said four special teams have been formed and the accused will be nabbed at the earliest.

According to sources, paediatrician Manas Das, who had sustained critical bullet injuries in the firing is undergoing treatment while medicine shop owner Krushna Chandra Sahu, who was also present on the spot and sustained critical injuries, succumbed on Sunday.
