Bhubaneswar: At a time when the Central Board of Secondary Education and Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) have already declared dates for 2020 Class 10 and 12 board exams, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) in Odisha are yet to declare the exam dates.

Students in the State have expressed concerns over the delay in the declaration of the exam dates and opined that such delay is marring their study-plan as they are unable to make proper subject-wise planning to prepare for the board exams.

"The sooner the dates are announced, the better it will be for us. Besides, it help us make our study plan accordingly, said a student," Subhashree Panigrahi.

"Had the dates been announced, we would have started our subject-wise preparations. The more it's delayed, the more we are getting worried," said another student, Subhashree Sabat.

Announcing exam dates earlier gives students ample time to plan for the exams, said a parent, Rabindra Panigrahi.

"CBSE plans for exams and other activities a year in advance. I think, CHSE and BSE also follow such procedures, but the officials here need to be serious about it," said academician, Pritish Acharya.

School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said that a high-level meeting will be held in this regard on December 24, in presence of CHSE and BSE officials. "By the end of next week, the dates will definitely be announced," he said.
