Bhubaneswar: Raising serious questions over law and order situation in the State, a student was allegedly sprayed with sedative and robbed of by three unidentified miscreants in the Capital City on Saturday evening.

The victim has been identified as Piyush Kumar Patra.

According to reports, the miscreants approached Piyush, who is a +3 student, in front of the Vivekananda Hospital, thrashed him severely and sprayed sedatives on his face forcefully. They allegedly snatched the purse and mobile from him following which they threw away the young man behind Bhubaneswar Club in an unconscious condition.

However, no case has been registered so far in the police station in this regard.

“My son was returning from coaching in a cycle when the miscreants approached him and sprayed sedatives on his face. They looted his purse and mobile,” said Piyush’s father Ladukishore Patra.

In another incident before two days, miscreants had allegedly decamped with 400 gm of gold ornaments and Rs 1.5 lakh cash from a jewellery shop located at Badabazaar area in Berhampur.

In October, miscreants had decamped with 2.8 kg of gold ornaments from one Vinod Jewellers located at the same Badabazaar main road area by breaking open the shop’s iron chest.

Later, police had busted the notorious looters’ gang and arrested two persons involved in a series of burglaries and seized 540 gm gold, 100 gm silver, a car, an expensive bike and a scooty from their possession.
