Bhubaneswar: While hailing people of Odisha for their continuous support to State government’s endeavour in its fight against Coronavirus, State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has also warned strict action against the quarantine violators.

The statement came after several reports surfaced about violation of quarantine norms by inmates at different quarantine centres.

In a series of tweets, CM Naveen Patnaik reiterated his views that he had pointed out in his last public address a few days back.

“Each person coming back to Odisha is one of our own. A small mistake in this time can lead to a more serious consequence. The government has ensured safe return of all the persons stuck in other states. Quarantine centres are ready with all the amenities. They should be safe there,” tweeted CM Naveen.

“As far as COVID-19 situation is concerned, Odisha is doing quite good to contain it. But to achieve this success, a lot of Odias have gone out of their ways and comfort zones. They have sacrificed a lot to keep the people of Odisha safe from Coronavirus. Those who are returning back to Odisha should show similar conviction and discharge their duty with utmost sincerity,” added Naveen.

Taking a firm stand against lockdown and quarantine violators, CM Naveen tweeted that the people coming back from other states should obey lockdown rules and stay in their designated quarantine centres till government allows them to leave.

“Respective Sarpanchs should inform the authorities on any quarantine violation, so that strict action can be initiated against the accused,” the Chief Minister tweeted.

Earlier, through a video conference on 29th April 2020, CM Naveen had said that, “We need to be alert, opt for registration of people returning from outside and support the Odisha government in keeping them in quarantine. Our family, village and community will remain safe if we follow instructions.”

“A little carelessness will result in very negative consequences and mistakes can lead to Covid-19 explosion in the State. This is a matter of life and death. Even mistakes by 10 percent of people, can compound the problem 100 times,” Patnaik had said in the video message.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also urged people of Odisha to help the government by obeying social distancing norms. Tweets, "These are challenging times & we should fight Coronavirus together."
