Bhubaneswar: With a significant rise in the number of dog bites and attacks in different parts of Odisha, questions are now being raised over lack of concrete measures being undertaken by concerned municipal corporation officials for sterilization of these stray dogs.

This time a minor girl suffered critical injuries after she was mauled by ten stray dogs at Khairapadar area in Dharmagarh of Kalahandi district on Saturday.

The girl was rescued by villagers in a critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment at the Dharmagarh hospital.

Residents in several parts of the State are now demanding urgent measures to deal with the stray dog menace in their respective areas.

On June 1, an elderly woman died after being attacked by eight to ten stray dogs at Binjabahal village in Dharmagarh.

Prior to this, as many as 12 persons were reportedly injured after being bitten by stray dogs inside the premises of Rourkela Steel Plant on March 30.
