Nayagarh/Bhadrak: On a day when electorates were exercising their democratic right for a better India, there were reports of sexual assault on two minor girls in Odisha, one from Nayagarh and the other from Bhadrak district.

A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth in a village under Fatehgarh Police limits of Nayagarh. The youth reportedly took the minor to an isolated spot on pretext of giving her lift to home and allegedly raped her.

However, the accused was nabbed by the villagers and thrashed black and blue before being handed over to the police. The survivor, on the other hand, was rescued in an unconscious state and rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile in Bhadrak, another minor girl was sexually assaulted by a youth in Rural Police limits. The girl was rescued in a critical condition with injuries on her head and it was alleged that the accused attempted to kill the survivor after raping her.

While police have detained a person in connection with the incident, the girl has been admitted to Bhadrak hospital for treatment.
