Step-Mother Brands Kid With Hot Iron Rod In Odisha

Rayagada: In an incident which will bring shame to a mother's unconditional love, a woman allegedly branded her own step son with hot iron rod for pooping his pants.

The matter came to fore after a photograph of the child’s body branded with hot iron rod went viral in various social media platforms a few days ago.

Following the incident, the Child Protection Unit of Rayagada launched an investigation and lodged an FIR with the Gunupur police against the parents of the kid.

The Child Protection Unit later revealed that the woman had been continuously torturing the child since marrying his father. But this time she crossed all the limits and burnt the child’s back with hot iron rod as a punishment for pooping his pants.

Ramesh Chandra Nayak, a member from Rayagada District Child Protection Unit said, “We immediately took cognizance of the matter after the picture of the child went viral. We lodged an FIR with the police in this regard and hope that action will be taken after completion of the probe.”

Sources said police later detained the parents of the kid for further questioning into the incident.
