Rourkela: Angry over the alleged non-payment of salary for the last two years, lecturers of a private engineering college staged demonstration here on Saturday.

The agitating staff of Rourkela Institute of Technology alleged that they were not given their salary for the last two years. They also opposed a press meet conducted by the college management committee yesterday evening over the payment issue.

Later, the situation took an ugly turn with the protestors resorting to manhandling the college principal.

“We have not got salary for the last 24 months; our PF is pending for the last 28 months while the ESI is not being given to us,” alleged a protestor.

He further said that the institute has been trying to get loan from bank for the last 15 years but it is yet to avail it.

“We demand an inquiry into the irregularities,” said another agitator.

Meanwhile, the principal of the college, Manoj Jena resigned from his post following the protest.
