Bhubaneswar: On second day (March 8) of the special Covid enforcement drive, Odisha Police took 11801 violators to task and collected fine of Rs 26,61,450 in last 24 hours, informed the police authorities on Friday.

The fine was collected mostly over mask usage and social distancing guideline violations.

As per the police reports, action has been taken against 21201 persons in two days for violating Covid protocols in the State and fines amounting to Rs 51,69,350 was collected in this connection.

The police have urged all to wear mask and maintain social distance to ward off COVID fears.

Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Friday urged the people of the State to actively take part in Mask Abhiyan for 14 days to inculcate the habit of properly wearing mask. He called upon the public to revert back to the old sanitary habits and appropriate Covid behaviour which helped the State give a good fight during the first wave of Coronavirus last year.

Patnaik has also asked the State Police to conduct a 10-day special COVID enforcement drive till April 16.
