Jeypore: A couple from Spain on Wednesday adopted a bay boy from an orphanage at Dasamantpur here in Koraput district.

The two-years-old child has been handed over to the couple in the presence of local sub-collector after completion of all official formalities. The couple expressed immense happiness on receiving the child but the entire staff, employees especially the mother (care taker) got emotional while bidding him a teary farewell.

"I looked after him like my own child for the last two years since he was rescued only at 4-days-old. It's painful for me to leave him, but still I am happy because he would lead a better life", the mother of the orphanage said in a soaked-eye.

On the other hand, the couple's joy knew no bound while they took custody of the child. "We are very happy....very very happy for getting him," the couple said.

The sub-collector who was present during the entire process said the foreign nationals were childless. "This child will be their first one. They love India. So, they took interest to adopt a child from this place,” the officer said.

The Spanish couple evinced interest for adoption and applied on-line for the same after it came to know about the child from the website of the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA).

The child was rescued from an abandoned place when he was only four-day-old. Later, he got his identification as Aditya in the orphanage.

Earlier on November 13, An Italian couple adopted an abandoned girl child from an orphanage in Gajapati district.

The district administration had handed over the child and they took custody of her after completing necessary formalities in the presence of administrative officials.
