Bhubaneswar: The ADJ court, Bhubaneswar, on Thursday rejected the bail application of arrested IFS officer Abhaykant Pathak and his son Akash in connection with the fraud case lodged by Bhubaneswar-based travel agency Sky King.

Earlier, the SDJM Court had remanded the tainted IFS officer to two-day custody after hearing a petition filed by the Commissionerate Police. The police interrogated him and collected information regarding the fraud during the remand period.

On December 17, the Commissionerate Police had obtained Akash’s custody to interrogate him in connection with the fraud case.

Sky King had lodged a complaint at Kharavela Nagar police station on December 2, accusing Akash of defrauding the agency to the tune of Rs 65 lakh.

As per reports, Akash and his father Abhaykant Pathak had booked chartered flights, five star hotels and air tickets through the agency totalling around Rs 2.78 crore. However, they had paid Rs 2.13 crore while outstanding bill of Rs 65,16,233 was not cleared, the agency had alleged.

The father-son duo was on November 27 arrested by the Odisha Vigilance on charges of amassing properties disproportionate to their known sources of income.
