Balasore: Six fishermen who had gone missing in the sea after their boat capsized near Wheeler Island in Bhadrak district today were rescued by a team of Marine police today.

According to reports, the boat carrying seven fishermen capsized after it hit a sand mound inside the sea. While one of them swam back safely, the other six did not show up.

"Six fishermen were feared drowned. Soon after we got the information, a joint team of marine police and fire personnel with the help of some local fishermen launched a rescue operation and traced the six men," informed a police official.

All the seven fishermen have been rushed to the Dhamara hospital for treatment and their condition is stated to be stable. The owner of the boat has also reached the spot and investigation is on to establish the exact reason of the mishap, he added. All the fishermen aboard the boat are residents of Kasaphal in Balasore district.
