Dhenkanal: In an unfortunate accident, two women were seriously injured while six persons went missing after a boat carrying as many as 50 people capsized in Brahmani River in Dhenkanal.

The incident occurred when villagers of Surapatrapur of Bhuban block were on their way through the Chandipal Ghat on Brahmani River to worship at Goudeswar Mahadev on the occasion of Mahashivratri.

According to sources, the boat lost its balance and capsized. Two persons have been rescued while six others are still missing, said sources.

“As per reports reaching here, a boat carrying villagers has capsized. Two persons have been rescued and are being taken to Bhuban hospital. Rescue operations have already started and the SDPO has reached the spot with a police team," said Kamakshyanagar sub collector, Manoj Behera.
