Bhubaneswar: Six people sustained injuries after a bus they were travelling in rammed into a roadside tree at Kalpana Chhak here today. All the injured have been rushed to the Capital Hospital.

According reports, the bus carrying around 60 to 70 passengers was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Puri when the mishap occurred. However, a major mishap was averted due to alertness of driver of the vehicle.

Sources said, when the overloaded bus was heading towards Raj Mahal via Kalpana Chhak, the driver of the vehicle sensed that the brakes were not working and in a bid to avoid any major mishap, dashed the bus into a roadside tree; and fled the spot.

On being informed, police rushed to the spot and started investigation.

It is being said that the bus was over loaded with passengers returning from Puri after the Suna Besha of Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath and Devi Subhadra in Puri yesterday.
