Bhubaneswar: There has been a significant reduction in the Left-wing extremism in South-Western range in Odisha, informed Director General (DG) Of Police Abhay on Sunday.

While talking to reporters during his visit to Koraput, Abhay said that Odisha Police has been successful against the ongoing drive against the Maoists. The left wing extremism has also witnessed a reduction in south-western range, including Malkangiri especially in cut-off region, he said.

“We are hopeful and committed to make the State Maoist free. We appeal the Maoists to lay down their arms and return to the main stream. The Odisha government’s rehabilitation policy is one of the best in the country,” said Abhay.

Abhay today visited Koraput to review the left wing extremism and the overall law and order situation in the region. He said that Odisha police has registered success on two key aspects- left wing extremism and crackdown on illegal narcotics trade.
