Bhubaneswar: Three bike-borne miscreants allegedly opened fire at a man in Kalinga Vihar K-4 area under the Tomando police limits in the Capital City on Friday morning.

The man, whose identity was not disclosed, had a providential escape as all the three bullets fired at him from the moving motorcycle missed target. The miscreants who came on the motorcycle soon fled from the spot. The place where the incident occurred is located on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

Though the man did not lodge any complaint following the incident, the police on their own have registered an FIR and launched the investigation.

According to sources in the Commissionerate Police previous enmity is the reason behind the daylight shootout. The man was recently released from jail where he had been lodged in connection with a criminal case.

During an inspection of the place where the firing took place, the police have recovered three empty bullet shells.

“I had been attacked several times in the past. But I am lucky enough to escape every time. My life is under threat. I have no clue about the persons who are repeatedly attacking me,” said the man who survived this time too.

Meanwhile, panic gripped the area following the incident.

“I heard the sound of three rounds of firing in the morning. It was really scary. The area has turned into a den for goons and anti-socials. Various anti-social activities are happening here even in broad daylight. The residents are feeling insecure about their life and property. We demand regular police patrolling in the area,” said a local while requesting anonymity.
