Koraput: A mother of two from Siatimala village, who had been battling death at a Koraput hospital for the past 15 days after being gang raped, finally lost her battle late Thursday night.

According to reports, the woman was admitted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in the district in a critical condition after being allegedly gang raped by two miscreants on December 5.

“My sister was rushed to the Saheed Laxman Nayak hospital from Jeypore hospital in a serious condition. When we reached the hospital after getting information, she was already dead,” said a relative of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the future of the two kids of the deceased lies in uncertainty as her husband is mentally unstable. Hence, the villagers have demanded the district administration to take necessary steps for the proper care of the kids.

“After completion of all the formalities, the kids will be handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC),” said Koraput CWC official, Rajashree Das.

Moreover, the district administration has reportedly provided an assistance of Rs 10,000 from the Red Cross fund to perform the last rites of the deceased.

On the other hand, the villagers have demanded stringent action against the accused, who are already behind bars.
