Sital Sasthi: Marriage of divine deities solemnised

Sambalpur: Religious fervour gripped the town here as the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Parvati was solemnised amid vedic rituals in wee hours today.The ‘hataganthi’ took place at sharp 3 am as people from all walks of life poured in to witness the celestial union of the deities.

Lord Shiva arrived in a huge procession amid drumbeats, lights and bursting of crackers accompanied by a swarm of devotees.  Deities of several temples invited for the marriage also attended the special event, informed president of Jhaduapada Sital Sasthi Committee, Saroj Dalpati.

Elaborate arrangements had been made by the district administration and the mega festival ended peacefully without any untoward incident. Today, the devotees were seen making a beeline for “jugal darshan “of the deities
