Dhenkanal: The managing director of the Beltikiri Dream Centre Shelter Home Fayaz Rehman, who was arrested by Dhenkanal police on charges of sexual harassment of girl inmates of the shelter home, was taken on a two-day remand today.

According to sources, Dhenkanal police will interrogate Rehman to elicit more information about the illegal functioning of the shelter home for past few years and also likely to question him over the allegations of sexual harassment and religious conversion of the inmates.

On Monday, the special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court had granted permission to the police to take Rehman on a two-day remand.

Police on Friday late night arrested the Dream Centre Shelter Home Project Director Simanchal Naik, Assistant Director Udit Lima and Managing Director Fayaz Rehman following allegations of sexual harassment of girl inmates at its Beltikiri branch in Dhenkanal.

Odisha DGP RP Sharma has directed SPs of all districts to submit a report on the number of registered and unregistered shelter homes running in each district along with details on whether any illegal activity is being carried out in these shelter homes.

Meanwhile Women and Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal said Nno complaint have been lodged in connection with the video showing religious conversion so far."

He further informed that a probe underway to find out the number of unregistered shelter homes in the state and appropriate action will be taken accordingly after the district administration submits the report.
