Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday predicted severe cold wave condition for several districts of Odisha for the next four days.

Cold wave to severe cold wave condition is likely to prevail over some districts from February 1 to 5, the IMD said in its mid-day bulletin. Accordingly, orange and yellow warnings have been issued for several districts.

Day-1

Orange Warning

Cold wave condition at a few places with severe cold wave condition at one or two places very likely to prevail over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal.

Impact & Action Suggested:

An increase in likelihood of various illnesses due to prolonged exposure of cold. stay indoor during night and early morning and use multi-layered clothes to avoid exposure to cold. Keep live stocks in indoors and shaded areas during night and early in the morning.

Yellow Warning

Cold wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khordha .

Impact & Action Suggested:

Cold is tolerable but mild health concern for infant/elderly peoples. Avoid prolonged exposure to cold during night/early in the morning. Keep live stocks in indoors and shaded areas during night and early in the morning.

Day- 2

Orange Warning

Cold wave condition at a few places with severe cold wave condition at one or two places very likely to prevail over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal.

Yellow Warning

Cold wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two  places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khordha.

Day-3

Yellow Warning

Cold wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal.

Day-4

Yellow Warning

Cold wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

The highest maximum temperature of 33 degree Celsius was recorded at Malkangiri and the lowest minimum temperature of 5 degree was recorded at Phulabani in the plains of Odisha.
