Koraput: Tension prevailed at Semiliguda block office after the local block development officer (BDO) allegedly thrashed a divyang beneficiary.

As per reports, BDO Trinath Majhi allegedly manhandled Chandra Khara of Musaguda village when the latter had reportedly gone to the block office to request concerned officials to sanction funds for the construction of a toilet allotted under a govt scheme in the name of his wife.

However, trouble erupted after Khara learnt that the money was sanctioned to another beneficiary. For seeking a clarification, the BDO allegedly thrashed Khara inside the block office.

“Along with my wife, I have visited the block office for nearly 50 to 60 times to get the bill passed for the toilet. The official beat me up and threatened not to visit the block office,” alleged Khara.

BDO Trinath Majhi on the other hand refuted the allegations leveled against him.
“We had informed the beneficiary that payment has already been done, but he (Khara) always used to create nuisance during working hours,” said Majhi.

Majhi further stated that Khara also threatened the officials by claiming that he has links with Maoists.

Semiliguda SDPO, Niranjan Behera on the other hand stated that, “The complainant has alleged that the BDO misbehaved and attacked him inside the block office. We have started an investigation into the matter.”
